New England Bear Hunt – 2022

The New England Chapter of HHO held its 2nd annual bear retreat from September 6, 2022 – September 13, 2022. With the help of 6 staff members, they were able to host 6 members for this event. The members that were selected for this retreat came from all over the country. The members and staff were broken up into 2 different groups and stayed at 2 different camps. When not hunting in the afternoon for bears members participated in short hikes in the White Mountains, fishing, kayaking, and site seeing drives. The group was able to drive to the top of MT Washington for some amazing views and learned some history about the mountain and NH.

During the week there were 30 bear sightings with 3 bears being harvested. Some nights members had the experience of seeing up to 5 bears. There were many sow and cub sightings during the week. Many jokes were shared, and memories made. Everyone showed up as strangers and left as friends. Members that experienced this trip were James MassieTrevor Vee , Brock RobertsAllen PedersonEric ChessnoeShaun Olsberg. Thank you goes out to the staff members Benjamin J KolbKevin WilliamsPaul LaFerriereBrendan BrackJim Juneau, and David Gray for the hard work and months of planning and preparation to pull off this event.

Without the following business which have been amazing supports of this event and the New England Chapter this event would not be able to occur. Henry Moncrief at Bear Bait Solutions for the bait, Tyler Dodge at Wilderness Freaks for the bear scent, Lisa Ann Sleeper Bass pro for the tree stands, Granite State Detachment 542 - Marine Corps League for your donation, and most of all the landowners that have allowed us to hunt their properties.
