Team Colorado represented the organization at the 35th annual 3 Lakes Ice Fishing contest in Grand County, Colorado, hosted by the Granby Chamber of Commerce. The fishable lakes included Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Reservoir, and Lake Granby.
They set up a table to sell merchandise at the kickoff party Thursday night and shared the mission of HHO with those who attended. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, Chris Cady, Brendan Whelan, and Shawn Buckendahl set up their new tent at the weigh-in station on Lake Granby, made lots of contacts, and educated many folks about the mission. They were also able to set up at the award ceremonies each evening to continue sharing our mission and sell merchandise.
On Saturday, the biggest turnout day, they gave away raffle tickets and raffled off a Clam chair/pack at the awards ceremony Saturday evening.
Grand County received about 3 feet of snow between Thursday evening and Sunday morning, which made ice fishing and access very difficult due to the continuing deterioration of slush conditions. As a result, many ATVs continually got stuck, and several snowmobiles and gear were left overnight Saturday when they got hopelessly stuck in some of the worst areas.
