Command Post Update
As I look back on how far Hometown Hero Outdoors has come, one thing stands out—we’ve learned to adapt, and we’ve done it together. The truth is, none of us have all the answers. We’re figuring it out as we go, learning everything we can in every area of this mission, all so we can help as many people as possible.
And here’s the part that matters most: we couldn’t do any of it without our volunteers. Their drive, their willingness to step up, and their commitment to serving others is the engine that keeps this organization moving forward.
To our volunteers—you are the heart of HHO. We lean on you, we learn from you, and we are deeply grateful for every hour, every trip, and every bit of energy you pour into this mission. Your impact runs deeper than you may ever realize.
Field Report
We’re still waiting on final details to report back from our annual Barbecue Boot Camp in Eagle Bend, but this event is always a crowd favorite. Up to 30 HHO members get hands-on experience learning the ins and outs of competition barbecue from some of the best in the business. It’s a full weekend of smoke, flavor, and camaraderie—and we couldn’t do it without our professional friends and partners in the barbecue industry. We appreciate everything they do to make this happen each year. Stay tuned for next week’s edition when we’ll have fresh photos and stories hot off the grill.
Meanwhile, football season is (finally) back—well, at least the preseason version. We hosted our first Minnesota Vikings tailgating event at The Lumberjack, and while preseason games might be the NFL’s version of adult flag football, it was great to get everyone together again. We’re excited to keep building the atmosphere—not just for game days, but as a way to support a great local business and our mission.
From bean bags and skee-ball to tabletop shuffleboard—and possibly even a beer-pong-style game—we’re keeping the fun going all season long. Add in some raffles, giveaways, and other surprises, and you’ve got yourself a tailgate worth showing up for, no matter the score.
Mission Wins
We’re on the cusp of something big—really big. Hero Chronicles is about to enter pre-production, and this will be the first TV series of its kind, telling the stories of our nation’s military, veterans, and first responders through the lens of HHO’s mission. Our goal is to bring these powerful stories to audiences across the U.S. through regional TV markets, while also making the series available for streaming on CarbonTV and YouTube.
Right now, we’re just waiting on the final green lights before we start gathering content and securing the last pieces for pre-production. We’re also preparing to open the door for commercial sponsors and strategic partners who want to be part of this groundbreaking project.
And here’s the kicker—we’re about 99% of the way to selling our available TV ad spots. That means we’re walking into production with serious momentum, a strong network of support, and the opportunity to make a nationwide impact right out of the gate.
