Mission Brief – Sept. 30, 2025

Command Post Update

Today marks the last day of Suicide Awareness and Prevention Month, but let’s be clear—our work doesn’t stop here. Awareness months help shine a light, but the real impact comes from what we do every single day. Our mission at Hometown Hero Outdoors is to make sure that support, connection, and healing continue year-round, because the need never ends when the calendar turns.

As we move into fall, we’re heading into one of our busiest seasons—the bread and butter of what we do. Hunts, fishing trips, and outdoor adventures are filling the schedule, giving our members a chance to reset, reconnect, and find healthy ways to cope through the power of the outdoors. But HHO is not just a fall organization—we’re here in every season, every month, every day, to provide purpose and community to those who serve.

There are countless great adventures ahead, and with them, countless opportunities to make a difference. Every trip, every event, and every connection is another step toward reducing the numbers of lives lost to suicide and helping our heroes find hope in the outdoors.

Field Report

This past week has been full of moments that show the strength of our community and the power of the outdoors.

In Minnesota, a group of friends and peers in the Milaca-Princeton area organized and hosted their own golf tournament, donating the proceeds to Hometown Hero Outdoors. They did a fantastic job, and we couldn’t be more thankful for their dedication. It truly takes an army of supporters to keep this mission moving, and we’re grateful for every hand that lifts us up.

We also wrapped up a great trip with McQuoid’s Fishing on Mille Lacs Lake. Their continued partnership allows us to provide meaningful experiences for our members, and this latest outing was no exception—another successful day on the water with memories made.

Out west, our team completed an elk hunt with BBB Outfitters in Colorado, where our Vice President, Shaun Olsberg, was able to spend time with his father and harvest a beautiful elk. We were fortunate to have Rogue Productions on hand to film the experience as one of the very first episodes of Hero Chronicles. This adventure not only provided incredible memories for those involved but will soon help us share the healing power of the outdoors with an even wider audience.

Mission Wins

We’ve hit some exciting milestones and are gaining momentum on several fronts.

The first episode of Hero Chronicles has officially been filmed with BBB Outfitters in Colorado, and now we’re on to the next adventures. Upcoming highlights for the series include a trip to Harris Ranch in Texas, a sturgeon fishing trip on the St. Croix River, and a pheasant hunt with Pheasants Forever in Nobles County, Minnesota—plus many more in the months ahead.

Our Metro Market on KSTC in the Twin Cities is nearly full, and we’re already exploring expansion into Duluth and Rochester. Right now, we’ve soft-launched, but a hard launch is just around the corner. If you or your business would like to be part of Hero Chronicles—whether through commercial space or product partnerships—now is the time to reach out.

On the home front, we’re preparing to roll out our new HHO online apparel store. This will be a pre-order model featuring gear from our longtime friends at Relentless Defender as well as new pieces from UNRL. We can’t wait to share this lineup of merchandise with you soon.

And finally, our current raffle is live! The grand prize is a Polaris Sportsman ATV—a serious prize that helps fuel our mission and provides one lucky winner with an incredible ride.

Recon & Intel

Our Adventures tab continues to fill with exciting new opportunities. One highlight is a gator hunt in Florida, now live and open for applications. In Texas, Harris Ranch in Uvalde has multiple trips posted and ready for members to apply. Be sure to check the Adventures page regularly, as more trips are being added all the time.

We’re also exploring a new way to support HHO through the Roundup Donation Program. This program allows individuals to round up their debit card purchases and automatically donate the change to our mission—a simple but powerful way to contribute.

On the organizational side, we’re expanding our capacity. We’ve brought on additional help in grant writing, and we’re now seeking a Fundraising Coordinator to help oversee our growing lineup of programs and campaigns. If you or someone you know might be a good fit, please reach out to us at our info email.

And here are a few important dates to mark on your calendars:

  • March 28, 2026 – Boots, Suits, and Camo Gala. This year’s gala is going to be bigger than ever, with an exciting new keynote speaker to be announced soon.
