At Hometown Hero Outdoors, we create space for healing and connection through hunting and fishing, and other outdoor trips and events for veterans, military service members, and first responders. Whether around a campfire, on the water, in the field, or through the courage to tell one’s story, HHO brings people together with peers who understand the unique challenges that come with service.

Our Story
Hometown Hero Outdoors began in 2017 when a group of veterans recognized a shared struggle—one that too many service members faced in silence after their time in uniform: isolation, disconnection, and the loss of purpose.
They saw the power of the outdoors not as recreation, but as a path forward. Through hunting, fishing, and shared experiences in nature, they began creating spaces where healing could happen—alongside others who understood.
What started as a few outings among friends has grown into a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Today, HHO includes military veterans, active service members, law enforcement, and first responders—united by a mission to reconnect, rebuild, and remind every hero: you’re not alone.
One Mission. Many Uniforms
Our community comprises those who’ve answered the call—from military service to public safety. Whether on the battlefield, in a patrol car, or on the front lines of crisis, they’ve had our backs. We’re here to have theirs.

Our nation’s veterans are the backbone of our organization. Since our inception, we have been dedicated to supporting and honoring their service and sacrifices.
