Supporting Heroes: MSP Fundraising Event Raises Over $1000 for Hometown Hero Outdoors (HHO)

Intro:
In the heart of Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP), a community came together to make a difference for those who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting others. Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to host a pancake breakfast fundraiser, and the results were nothing short of remarkable. We raised over $1000 for Hometown Hero Outdoors (HHO) and their Legacy Trip Fund, which is changing the lives of veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel.

Honoring Officer Arik Matson's Legacy:
Our connection to this cause runs deep, as Officer Arik Matson was the first recipient of the Legacy Trip, embarking on a dream journey to Alaska to hunt King Eider ducks. Officer Matson's story touched our hearts profoundly, and it hit even closer to home for some of us who work in component maintenance with connections to Arik and other officers who selflessly serve their communities.

A Resounding Success:
The pancake breakfast fundraiser was a valuable learning experience in various aspects, but most importantly, it was an overwhelming success. We are deeply grateful to Delta Care Funds here in MSP, who supported us by covering initial supplies and providing essential utensils and expertise. Nobody left hungry, and every bite was a contribution to a great cause. We are excited about the prospect of hosting more events in the future to continue our support for heroes like Officer Matson and the HHO team.

A Visit to MSP Facilities:
Arik and his wife Megan, along with Chris Tetrault of HHO and their healthcare professional, had the opportunity to visit our facilities during their journey. Chris Jackson (D384) and I (Alex Walker D384) had the privilege of showing them the inner workings of Tech Ops. Although we missed connecting with Arik's wonderful aunt, Janell Storey, a DTW-based Flight Attendant, they were all fascinated by the scale of operations around our hangars. Having flown on one of our brand-new A321NEO aircraft, they gained a new perspective on our airline's scope and impact.

Wishing Them Continued Recovery:
As Arik and his family continue their journey to recovery, we extend our warmest wishes and hopes to see them on many more Delta flights in the future. Their resilience and the support of organizations like HHO inspire us to keep making a positive impact in our community and beyond.

Conclusion:
The MSP community's dedication to supporting our heroes shines brightly through the success of our pancake breakfast fundraiser. Together, we raised over $1000 for Hometown Hero Outdoors and honored the legacy of Officer Arik Matson. We look forward to continuing our partnership with HHO and hosting more events that make a difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed for our safety and well-being.
