This Weeks Wins, Adventures, and What’s Coming Next for HHO
Week of September 1, 2025
Command Post Update
This week, I want to shine the spotlight on one of the biggest projects we’ve ever taken on at Hometown Hero Outdoors: Hero Chronicles.
Hero Chronicles is more than just a TV series—it’s a platform to share the powerful stories of our nation’s heroes. Through hunting, fishing, and time outdoors, we’ll highlight the lives of military service members, veterans, and first responders—their service, their struggles, and their journeys toward healing and connection.
We’re thrilled to announce that Hero Chronicles is on the brink of launching into a Minnesota TV market, with plans to expand into other states and stream nationally through CarbonTV and YouTube. This will be the first series of its kind, blending outdoor adventure with real, raw, and inspiring stories.
This is a massive step forward for our mission. By telling these stories, we’re not only honoring those who serve but also showing the life-changing impact of outdoor recreational therapy. And as we gear up for pre-production, we’re building partnerships with sponsors who believe in the cause and want to be part of something groundbreaking.
The train is leaving the station—and this is only the beginning.
If you’re interested in being featured on the show as a guide or participant, or if your company wants to showcase your brand as part of this series, email us:

Field Report
We’re excited to share that the recap of our Dos Plumas Hog Hunt is now live under the Stories section of our website. This incredible 3-day, 2-night hunt brought together eight HHO members for camaraderie, adventure, and plenty of memories in the field. Be sure to check it out if you haven’t already—it’s a great example of the impact our trips have on those we serve.
Speaking of trips, we’re in the middle of transitioning all trip postings and recaps onto our website. This process comes with a few growing pains and alterations, but the end goal is clear: to make signing up, applying, and following along with HHO adventures as easy and seamless as possible for our members and supporters.
On another front, HHO leadership is hitting the road this month. Shaun Olsberg and I (Chris Tetrault) will be traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet with ATF Peer Support groups. We’ll be sharing more about HHO’s programs, our peer support model, and the ways outdoor recreation can play a critical role in mental health and resilience for those who serve.
Mission Wins
Momentum continues to build across the organization:
- Grant Writing Team Expands: We’re thrilled to welcome additional support on our grant writing efforts, giving us more firepower to pursue funding opportunities and expand our impact. Each new set of hands here directly translates into more trips, more support, and more heroes served. We are looking for more grant writers that either want to engage pro-bono or even paid based on your successes.
- Hero Chronicles Partnerships: With the Minnesota TV market nearly locked in, we’re officially beginning to build partnerships with sponsors for Hero Chronicles. This is a huge step forward—an opportunity for businesses and supporters to showcase their brand while helping us tell the stories of veterans, service members, and first responders nationwide. The momentum is real, and we’re excited to bring partners on board before production ramps up.
- Strategic Partnerships: We’re actively looking to add more capabilities to our team focused on strategic partnerships, helping us build long-term sustainability and increase fundraising opportunities. This will ensure HHO can continue to grow and serve heroes for years to come.
- Raffles: Our current raffle for a Rambo e-bike + Ravin crossbow is wrapping up soon, with one lucky winner taking home both. Right behind it, we’ll be launching a brand-new ATV raffle (with additional items) to keep the excitement rolling and fuel our mission.
- MNDVA Grant: We’re nearing the point where we can begin utilizing our appropriation from the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs grant. We’re ironing out some final details, but once in place, these funds will allow us to serve even more Minnesota veterans and military service members.
- Community Fundraisers: September is shaping up to be a busy and exciting month for events. From the Brooklyn Park Police Federation Golf Tournament (Sept. 5), to the Milaca/Princeton Golf Tournament benefiting HHO, Field of Bands in Stillwater, and the Lancastle Summer Extravaganza (Sept. 12)—there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and support the mission.
Recon & Intel
Fall is here, and with it comes one of the busiest seasons of the year for HHO. Our Adventures page is filling up fast with hunts and fishing trips across the country.
A few highlights on the horizon:

- Our 4th Annual ND Pheasant Hunt, always a member favorite.
- A buffalo hunt opportunity for ND residents.
- Guided fishing trips, including Mille Lacs in Minnesota and 605 Outfitters in South Dakota.
