Bringing Outdoor-Based Healing to Veterans and First Responders in Michigan

Hometown Hero Outdoors (HHO) is proud to announce its official expansion into the state of Michigan, marking another major step in the organization’s mission to serve veterans, active-duty military, and first responders through outdoor experiences that support mental health and connection.

Leading this expansion is Kyler Lynn, who has been named the new HHO Michigan State Director.

Meet Kyler Lynn, Michigan State Director

Kyler Lynn is no stranger to Hometown Hero Outdoors.

A U.S. Army veteran, husband, and father of four, Kyler has been actively involved with HHO since 2021. Coming from Team Indiana, he has played a key role in organizing and leading outdoor adventures for members—helping create meaningful experiences centered around camaraderie, purpose, and healing.

Outside of his work with HHO, Kyler enjoys hunting, fishing, and smoking meat, fully embracing the outdoor lifestyle that drives the organization’s mission.

“I’ve taken a lot of members on trips and I’m excited to open the Michigan chapter to expand the outreach of HHO.” – Kyler Lynn

Expanding the Mission: Why Michigan Matters

Michigan represents a significant opportunity for Hometown Hero Outdoors to expand its impact.

With a strong community of veterans and first responders, combined with abundant natural resources and outdoor opportunities, Michigan is uniquely positioned to support HHO’s mission of using the outdoors as a tool for mental health and resilience.

Over the past several years, HHO has seen increasing interest and support from individuals across Michigan who are eager to get involved—whether as participants, volunteers, or supporters.

With Kyler Lynn stepping into the State Director role, HHO now has the leadership in place to bring structured programming, organized trips, and community engagement to the region.

Healing Happens Outdoors

Since its founding in 2017, Hometown Hero Outdoors has served thousands of veterans, service members, and first responders across the United States by providing free outdoor adventures that foster connection, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being.

From hunting and fishing trips to outdoor retreats and shared experiences, HHO creates environments where individuals can reset, reconnect, and find support among others who understand their journey.

The launch of HHO Michigan is another step forward in ensuring that more individuals have access to these life-changing opportunities.
