BBQ Boot Camp 2025: Smoke, Sizzle, and Camaraderie

This past week, Hometown Hero Outdoors #TeamMN hosted its annual BBQ Boot Camp in Eagle Bend, Minnesota, and the smoke was rolling! Known as one of HHO’s most mouthwatering events, the Boot Camp brought together 20 veterans, service members, and first responders from multiple states for a weekend of fire, flavor, and fellowship.

Thanks to the hospitality of the Eagle Bend Fire Department, participants had the chance to learn from some of the best cooks in the BBQ scene. From mastering brisket to perfecting ribs and experimenting with smoky flavor profiles, members picked up insider tips and tricks that will keep their grills fired up long after the event ended.

Of course, no BBQ Boot Camp is complete without indulging in a feast. Between the endless smoked meats, savory sides, and a few “just one more bite” moments, participants proudly earned their meat sweats. To top it all off, door prizes were handed out, adding even more fun to the weekend.

Why BBQ Boot Camp Matters

At Hometown Hero Outdoors, events like BBQ Boot Camp are about more than just food. They provide outdoor therapy, camaraderie, and a reset button for military service members, veterans, and first responders. Whether it’s chasing muskies, throwing axes, or in this case, throwing ribs on the smoker, these experiences create lasting memories and connections that help strengthen mental health and community.
